DRM issue with MLB.COM and Beta 10 |
|
|
Queston 1
The content was a download from MLB.com, "Home Run Derby 2004", its consided same as a game download. I am told Licese is setup for max 3 computers. and is setup not to allow backup of DRM licenses.
First computer running Media Player 9 got license, second computer Media 10 beta, generated a Login failure.
Its this login failure part of the related known issues that is tempory disabled consering use of backed up DRM ?
Question 2.
Assume the above license had installed on Media 10 beta and that license does not allow for backup/restore. When the release Media 10 , 11 and so on, will a user loose the ablity to play the content or consume an additional license computer counts?
What is considered expected behavure?

When DRM talks to a license server there are no credentials passed.
Therefore the only real way for DRM to "logon" is via web "cookies". Try
accessing MLB.com and logon using your web browser on the machine with the
v10 beta. Then see if the v10 beta player will work, I suspect that hitting
their web site will set a cookie on your machine so that when you connect
back using the player it will work.

If I undersand you correcly, Beta 10 does not prevent a login attempt in my example to mlb.com. To get the DRM license. MLB.com uses a modal poup within media player for login and password method before it will transfer a license to the local computer. In this case the login and password match that the product was purchased and download with.
I do not know if there is an encription issue with the password value being submitted to there server.
