Dear Microsoft,

When will we be able to use a version of the Format SDK on Windows Server
2003? We're all stuck out here using Format 9 SDK on Windows 2000
boxes...and can't upgrade to 2003 because there is no release of the SDK for
2003 (only XP)? I thought MS wanted everyone to use Win2003.

2003 is server-oriented and you usually develop software at
a workstation and the workstation version of 2003 is XP-PRO
and it's predecessor is 2000-PRO, while 2000-SRV was the
predecessor of 2003.

Thus said, the WMFSDK9 works perfectly on 2003 (I should
know since I use a 2003 machine as dev platform, despite the
previous paragraph) and this system is just not offially
supported as dev platform.

No they want everyone to use Windows XP with SP2 :)

They want the "servers" to be using Win2003, not the end users.
