WMV streaming |
|
|
Assume that I have a *.wmv file prepared for streaming (e.g. 720x576, 25fps,
audio - 48kHz, 16bit stereo, 8Mbps).
Now, I'll start Windows Media Encoder on my server and configure it to
output stream to port 8080 in the same format as the original *.wmv file is.
The question is: Is WME going to decompress frames/samples from original
file, recompress them again and send to port 8080? I assume it will. If so,
is it possible to configure WME not to do so, because in that case after
only a few connections video server's CPU will be on 100%.
P.S.
Maybe there is some other software available for that purpose except WME?
Any comments or suggestions are welcome!
thanks

The WM Encoder skips the decompress/recompress if the input and output
formats match exactly (which it sounds like they do in your case)
