Is it possible to play avi files over SSL? |

I am developing an app that uses the embed player to play avis. I am also
attempting to link to the file (located on a site that uses SSL) that will
launch the external player. The embedded player works fine, however when I
click the link to play the file externall, WMP launches and I receive a
security error (code 800C000E).
Microsofts work around:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;885136
is not an option.
Is there another way to do it?
WM version 10.00.00.36.46
