Streaming Live Sportscast |

Hello,
We are trying to broadcast local football games. I will be using Windows Server 2003, with media server 9. The audio source for the games would come from the press box, via a modem or ISDN connection.
We will provide a number and they will dial in the audio source for every game.
What equipment do I need to stream the audio, otr make it work? Will a standard modem work, or not?
How do I learn how to set this up?
Any help appreciated
Thanks
Chad

Hi Chad,
Windows Media Server 9 cannot source directly from a
hardware input. It needs input in the ASF/WMV format (or a
static file) to broadcast over the internet.
You will need a Windows Media Encoder (version 9 is
currently available as a free download from the Microsoft
website at
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/defa
ult.asp) that will take the audio input and convert it
into WMV/ASF format live and then that can be streamed
from the Windows Media Server as a broadcast.
I know that the encoder will typically work with an input
like web cam/DV source etc. However, I am not sure if the
encoder will take the input from the feed/system that you
have. You might want to post this question on the encoder
newsgroup(microsoft.public.windowsmedia.encoder)
Hope this helps.
