multiple IPs and Windows media services, or Firewall hell? |
|
|
hi
Does anyone know if, when you Add a Server by IP address, whether Media Services is supposed to only use that IP address, and no other on the same machine?
I have a server with 3 internal IPs mapped to 3 external IPs through a firewall with all needed ports opened.
When I stream a file from the server I can do so from all 3 external IP addresses, instead of just the single one specified by Add Server.
From this description, would you say I have a Firewall configuration problem, or would you say that Windows Media takes over all IPs on the server, despite I only asked for one to serve media?

Ronald,
What port you are streaming out of the server is probably
not dependent on what you add on the Administrator.
Instead, on the administrator please click on the server
name and then on the Right side pane, go to Properties-
| Quote: | Control Protocol. Double click on the WMS RTSP Server
Control Protocl and in there you can see the option "IP |
addresses" in which you can select which IPs this control
protocol plug-in would stream from (choose "Allow selected
IP addresses" option and select only the IP address you
want to stream). Similarly, you will need to do the same
for WMS MMS Control Protocol plug-in etc.
Hope this helps.
