Streaming delay |
|
|
Hello,
I have a push publishing point in Windows Media Services which broadcasts a
(high quality) stream.
When I start encoding using Windows Media Encoder and view the output there,
the delay is 5 seconds (the stream comes from another pc and I move the
mouse on it). However on every other client the delay is 14 seconds.
What can I do about this ?
TIA,
Michiel.

Ah, so that's impossible then I guess, although the output view of the
encoder shows a mere 5 secs. But thanks for the info, helps me to convince
my boss :P

I tried setting the buffering on Windows Media Player and Windows Media
Encoder to 1 second but the video did not play smooth. You might try
starting at 1 second on each program and increase until you reach smooth
playback with minimal delay. I am going to try some more when I get the
time.
Good luck.

Re: Streaming delay |

Hehe I already did that both too, those run smoothly on my configuration
AFAIK (no frame skipping in Windows Media Player statistics). My boss is
satisfied with the 11 seconds so I guess I'll leave it at that. I'm also
creating a client with an embedded player and so far the delay there is only
7 secs, so that might be an alternative.
