Has anyone connected SDI equipment up to Windows media
server and streamed across a WAN or the Internet?

I have! I'm using a modified encoder from Pro-Bel, but this is not
sold
anymore. It has an s-video input, so we have hardwired in an SDI to
S-video
converter box. It works.

However I have also been looking at other solutions and the best
solution at the moment seems to be using a card for your server with
an SDI input. You can set up several such cards in one server, which
means you can stream different content using the same server. (At
least this is what they tell me!)
