hardware problem ? |
|
|
Hi there,
I have a question which has to-do with media service.
Hardware specs:
Dell poweredge 1650
1.5 gig ram
1250 MHz Intel proc
Gig network card interface which is connected to a fibber switch which
is connected to a 75xx router.
At the moment I have live radio streams on this server who are good
for 60 mbit/s
But recently I changed the server from a win2k windows media v7 to a
win2k3
Windows media v9 server and then the problems started
After +/- 1000 connected clients, clients are starting the buffer
every minute.
This is not an option because the streams have to be there without any
buffering after starting the stream.
I need 2000 > connections
I tried windows media load simulator. But that program is not accurate
Because that is streaming an .asf file, and I'm streaming from an
encoder.
New hardware is not a problem but I have to be sure that it is the
hardware.
Can somebody give my some tips because I'm out of options.
Ps: the streams are 2x 48 kb/s and 1 x 32 kb/s

Glad it worked.
BTW, you can use Load simulator against Live streams. You
can point the WMLoad URL to your live publishing point
just as you would an .asf file.
Thx,
Ravi

I have tried to point wmload to the live broadcast but it seems not
working.
I get an access denied, and then it stops
When I point it to wmload.asf then it works
I don't know if you know the next question, but why was this patch not
inserted in windows update or is this a rare occasion?
anyway my boss and i are already happy we just streamed over 89 mbit/s
without any problems.

Live should work - there seems to be config issue with
your WMLoad setup. Can you access the same URL with your
PC's Windows Media player?
Sorry, I don't have an answer on the Windows Update
question - not something I know about.
Thx,
