Neither one of my cd/dvd drives' autostart process will work when a disk is
inserted. I have to manually go in and start the player, be it media player
or any other. Also when I am finished using the drive for multimedia and
eject the disk, the identifying icon for the movie or album title remains in
the my computer window until I restart the computer. I have autostart enabled
for each disk. I even reinstalled SP2 as instructed by the windows hotfix
advice knowledge base. It doesn't work. I am running XP Home edition

What happens if you insert a different disk - one with a differnet icon on it?
And what shows up in [drive] --> Properties --> AutoPlay?
